2024 NSTC Biomedicine and Precision Medicine Workshop – Netherlands October 21, 2024 | Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam
The Erasmus Medical Center hosted an inspiring full-day workshop on October 21, bringing together the Dutch Research Council and the Taiwan-European Association for Science and Technology. The event focused on exploring collaborative opportunities between Taiwan and the Netherlands in the fields of biomedicine and precision medicine.
Dr. Ying-Chyi Chou, Director of the Science & Technology Division at the Taipei Representative Office in the EU and Belgium, and her team played a pivotal role in organizing the workshop. The agenda featured diverse presentations on existing and future collaborations between Taiwan’s National Science and Technology centers and Europe’s NOW, European design training, advancements at the Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute, and the social impact of AI.
Barbara Huelat, a consultant with Healing Design in Washington, DC, delivered the opening keynote. She shared insights from the Dementia Village in Amsterdam, illustrating the integration of humanism and technology and bridging the gap between the two. The day's presentations covered vital topics, including healthy culture, international policy, collaborative research, and funding. Esteemed scholars, medical experts, and leaders from Erasmus University, Eindhoven University of Technology, University of Twente, Leiden University, and European-Taiwanese associations contributed to the rich discussions

The workshop concluded with an engaging panel of young research scholars who shared their optimistic perspectives on the future of international collaboration.
